World Book Day 2025

World Book Day 2025

Wow, what a fantastic World Book Day celebration! On Friday the school was transformed by the brilliant Ms Adcock, and students were set to ‘roll up roll up’ in their fantastic costumes.

In class, the children explored the wonderful world of circus themed books, including The Clown Who Lost His Nose by Tweedy the Clown @tweedyclown, Nell and The Circus of Dreams by Nell Gifford @officialgiffordscircus, and Clown by Quentin Blake @quentinblakehq.

The amazing School of Larks gave some excellent circus training, with skills including juggling, diabolo and tightrope walking.

Parents were treated to a special performance in Celebration Assembly, where the children demonstrated their circus talents.

Mrs Rushton showed us her superb multitasking abilities by balancing four spinning plates at once (and she hadn’t practiced!)

Thank you so much to Ms Adcock and her helpers for creating a wonderful circus display, to @schooloflarks_circus for their brilliant workshop, and to all the staff at Avening School for making it all so much fun!

Thank you also to the FOAS members for your circus themed after school treats 🧁

We were delighted to help fund such a special day 🎪

Bedtime Stories for World Book Day

Bedtime Stories for World Book Day 2025

As part of this week’s World Book Day celebration, the children of Avening School returned to the classroom in their pyjamas for a Bedtime Stories session.

With their favourite teddy, a cup of hot chocolate and even a biscuit, the children sat and enjoyed reading books to each other.

Thank you to the FOAS team for serving the refreshments.

The World Book Day fun continues later this week, and we can’t wait to see how Ms Adcock transforms the school this year. Her decorations are incredible!
